    Student Council

    A student council is a group of students who work together to help with school activities and affairs, and to give students a voice in the school community:
    Purpose

    • Student councils help students develop leadership skills, and give them a chance to share their ideas and concerns with the school. They also help promote citizenship, scholarship, human relations, and cultural values.

    Structure

    • Student councils are made up of elected and volunteer students, and are supervised by adults. The council’s executive team usually includes a president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary.

    Activities

    • Student councils plan events, organize service projects, and work on other activities to promote school spirit and community welfare. They may also be involved in promoting citizenship, scholarship, human relations, and cultural values.
